8 Halloween Costumes We Will See A Lot This Year

October 30, 2019

If you went to a Halloween party before, you might have noticed there are a few similar costumes among the crowd. Maybe you are tired of the same costumes every year and want to avoid the general trends or you want to pick a common costume, so here are my top eight predictable costumes for 2019:

The Office Characters:

Whether it’s a Jim and Pam matching couple costume or flamboyant Dwight Schrute costume, there will, undoubtedly, be an abundance of people dressing up based on the comedy TV show. The show ran for 8 years, capturing many zealot fans, who know the inside jokes and hilarious lines of each episode. So, it’s not surprising that fans would want to dress up as their favorite characters.

VSCO Girls:

It’s a funny stereotype of girls on the photo editing app, VSCO. They can be described as the new basic: with their oversized t-shirts, Hydro Flasks, colorful scrunchies, and for saying the phrase, “sksksksks.” There have been countless memes inspired by the VSCO girl, so that’s why it makes a popular costume for teens who understand the satire of the concept.

Joker/Harley Quinn:

Since “Sucide Squad” was released in 2016, people have dressed up as the iconic villainous duo for years and 2019 won’t be any different. Additionally, with the release of the movie “Joker,” it will only increase the amount of people wearing the vivid color suit.

Stranger Things Characters:

Eleven. Not the number, but the famed character of the Netflix Original, “Stranger Things.” Since season one, people have tried to imitate Eleven’s freshly shaven cut and the other main characters’ 80’s inspired outfits.

Marvel Characters:

Marvel has the highest grossing movies of all time, like Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel. Clearly, the franchise has a pop culture impact on people and Halloween enthusiasts.

Riverdale Characters:

In the fictional town of Riverdale, where the characters solve mysteries and drink milkshakes, there is a particular aesthetic that appeals to many young adults. The high school wardrobe makes it more relateable to teens and approachable to dress up as the protagonists of the show.

Aladdin Characters:

Since the live-action adaptation came out this year, it has sparked a nostalgic love for the lively characters and costumes. Especially for the eccentric, blue, and magical Genie. Dressing up as Jasmine, Aladdin or the Genie has never failed as a trend and the amazingly produced live-action only fuels this fire.

Area 51 Aliens:

They can’t stop us all. The joke started from a Facebook post recruiting people to raid the Area 51 base and “naruto running” to get past the guards. It’s hilarity struck teens across America and it’s expected that some will try to dress up as the out-of-this-world creatures.
