What is it?
The Lunar New Year actually doesn’t start on January 1st, it officially begins on January 25th. However, the date changes every year based on the cycle of the moon, so in 2021, the Lunar New Year would start on February 12. The annual holiday did originate in China, but other countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Vietnam celebrate as well. How people celebrate is varied from culture to culture, but you can expect a lot of traditional food, family time, and overall wishing for prosperity and fortune.
