One of Justin Bieber’s first hit songs called “Baby” featuring Ludacris was released January 18, 2010. After the single was released on YouTube, it came in as #1 on the Billboard Charts in March of 2010, and ended at #44 at the end of the year. The music video currently has 2.1 billion views on Youtube. This single sparked off Justin Bieber’s career making him become one of the most popular teen pop artists.
Another hit song that brings us back is Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson. This song was released on September 20, 2011. This was was an iconic song to pop culture and reached #2 on the Billboard charts of 2012. Call Me Maybe was nominated at the Grammy Awards in 2013, she also won best “Best Pop Solo Performance” with this single. As of right now the music video on YouTube has 2.1 billion views.
In May of 2015 Watch Me by Silento released and became a really popular song. Not only was this song popular it also started the well known dance called the “Whip and Nae Nae.” Within the same year the “Whip and Nae Nae” dance became one of the biggest dance trends in America. This single made #8 on the Billboard charts in 2015, and currently has 1.7 billion views on YouTube.
One song that was released in the past decade that is memorable is Despacito, by Justin Beiber and Daddy Yankee. Despacito was released in January 2012 and quickly rose on the Billboard Charts becoming #2 on the charts at the end of 2017. Besides the fact that this single was highly liked by Americans it was also popular and well-liked by other countries. As of right now Despacito is the most viewed video on Youtube with 6.6 billion views.
Another unforgettable song of the decade is Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. This single was independently released by Lil Nas X in 2018 but after Billy Ray Cyrus made a remix it became one of the most popular songs of 2019. Old Town Road was categorized under both country and rap. By the end of the year it landed the #1 spot on the Billboard Charts, and had over 400 million views on Youtube.
