Cypress Ranch High School is kicking off the 2024-25 school year with a refresh of its vending machines. The upgraded machines provide a broader range of snacks and drinks, feature more nutritious options and enhance convenience for students throughout the campus.
The newly upgraded DN5800 vending machines greet students with a sleek, modern design and enhanced functionality. While maintaining the same range of healthy snacks offered in previous years, these machines now feature a variety of payment options, adding convenience for every student’s needs.
“I think they’re very high tech. I do love the Apple Pay, because sometimes I don’t have cash on me, and it makes things 10 times easier, “ Cypress Ranch senior Maija Tate said.
The drink selection has also been expanded, now featuring diet versions of our most beloved favorites such as Diet Coke, Diet Sprite and Diet Fanta, providing a range of healthier choices while maintaining a variety of options for every taste.
“I love the new Diet Fantas they’ve added,” sophomore Brooklyn Nguyen said. “I still can’t believe we get sodas in bottles now. I get a soda from the vending machine every day.”
Despite some praise, some students, however, have expressed their concerns about the addition of the new vending machines. Due to statewide budget cuts, schools across the district have experienced a reduction in certain amenities that were previously offered.
“I think they’re nice, but I don’t think we should have got them,” sophomore Callyan Seidman said. “It’s a lot of money, and the district paid for it, and the district [made budget cuts on some routes for] our buses, and I’d rather have a bus than a vending machine.”
As students continue to adjust to these changes, it remains to be seen how the new vending machines will balance convenience with the larger issues facing the school district. For now, they serve as a small luxury in a school year filled with both excitement and uncertainty. Whether for a quick snack or a refreshing drink, these machines are sure to become a staple for many students at Cypress Ranch.
