On Dec. 6 during 2nd period, the Commons was transformed into a busy market, featuring an array of student-created products. This senior event, which tied together economics and entrepreneurship, gave students an opportunity to show their business skills while raising money for the class of 2025.
A Senior Tradition Like No Other
The Mustang Market is a senior tradition that has been running for years. The event acts as the culmination of their Economics course, allowing them to apply the lessons they have learned in a real-world setting. The market features a diverse arrangement of products ranging from handmade gadgets to innovative accessories to silly trinkets. Students are tasked with creating, marketing and selling a product they have invented, making the Eco Fair both a fun and educational experience.
“It’s really cool that people took the time to make these things, ” senior Deivanai Palaniappan said. “It shows the entrepreneurial spirit at Cypress Ranch.”
This fair is not only a celebration of the students’ creativity but also a fundraiser for the senior class. All proceeds will go towards supporting events and activities for the Class of 2025, making it a great way for students to contribute to their final year.
A Cashless Event
For the first time in Mustang history here at Cypress Ranch, the fair went completely cashless. Instead of using cash to purchase items, students and visitors paid through SchoolCash. Tickets were priced at 50 cents each sold in $5 bundles, and attendees could buy as many as they liked.
QR codes were posted throughout the Commons, allowing everyone to easily pay for tickets directly from their phones. After purchasing, attendees could head to one of the two ticket claim tables at the front of the Commons to pick up their tickets by showing their SchoolCash receipt.
“I think it was a good idea to make it cashless,” senior Chloe Javillonar said. “It definitely sped up the process of buying things.”
The cashless system with tickets was a hit, making the entire process faster and more efficient.
Student Creations
The fair offered a variety of unique and creative products, and students were eager to show off their hard work. Senior Alma Termos and her group made handmade ornaments to sell.
“It’s December, so it’s Christmas time,” Termos said. “I wanted to make something people could put on their trees.”
Termos’s holiday-themed products are sure to catch the eye of anyone looking for a unique and personal touch for their decorations. She is among the many seniors excited to share their projects with the community, ranging from eco-friendly goods to artistic creations. Whether it is innovative accessories, handmade ornaments or silly souvenirs, there was something for everyone.
“I found some cool things like these Wakanda Shields,” senior Tristan Gonzalez said.
Inspired by the Marvel movie Black Panther, the Wakanda Shields caught the attention of students looking for something unique and fun.
Why Eco Fair Matters
The Mustang Eco Fair is not just about buying and selling products, it is about celebrating the creativity and entrepreneurship of Cypress Ranch students. The event is an opportunity for the seniors to demonstrate the skills they have learned in their economics courses, while also helping fund their senior year activities.
The Eco Fair was a clear reminder of the innovative spirit that defines Cypress Ranch High School, and it marked another successful chapter in the Mustang Eco Fair tradition.
