Cypress Ranch varsity boys basketball dominated Waller High School in its final game of winter break in a 69-44 win on the road. After going 2-2 in the team’s tournament in Baytown over the break, Ranch advanced to 13-10 on the season and 2-1 in district.
The Mustangs started off the game strong with a 22-9 first quarter with Coach Mason Huffmeister preaching that the team “come in and make a statement [from the start], especially in transition.”
Following through on this, the Mustangs took advantage of the Bulldog’s slow pace in the fast break to create good looks. They kept their foot on the gas playing aggressive defense, widening the deficit with a huge defensive stop at the end of the third quarter and eventually locked in the win.
The team has their calendar circled for their next match-up against rivals Bridgeland High School on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
