Last Saturday, Jan. 25 the Mustangs faced off against the Cy Lakes Spartans for the second time in a tough 56-54 loss, stunning the Mustangs and snapping their 6-game win streak. A streak that had stretched all the way back to winter break.
Starting Guard Tyler Scheetz’ absence was definitely felt in tonight’s loss, the Mustangs saw hard-fought scoring from Guard Isaac Saavedra and Senior Forward Jerrick Bess combining for 30 points, 18 of which were Saavedra’s. Senior center Jordan Pape hit a big 3 with less than half a minute to go in the fourth quarter, giving Ranch a shot of hope as well as put them within one point only for them to be unable to capitalize with time running out.
The Mustangs fall to 18-11 on the season and are still tied for first in district with both Cy Lakes and Cy Springs. The Mustangs are looking to win their next game against Cypress Woods at home on Wed., Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.
