Cypress Ranch varsity boys basketball moves back into the win column in an overtime victory over the Cypress Woods Wildcats. The Mustangs fought hard, coming from behind to win this game 59-55, advancing to 19-11.
The Mustangs defense was clicking in the second quarter, finally forcing Woods to scramble but the Mustangs offense just couldn’t keep up, with Woods’ defense proving to be tough to break through. The Wildcats dominated the first half with a 30-24 lead, and had the Mustangs consistently losing the battle for rebounds.
Ranch finally started to come alive in the fourth quarter after a clutch foul drawn by senior guard Tyler Scheetz and a massive 3 by guard Chase Wilson with three minutes left. The Mustangs fought back and eventually forced the game to go into overtime.
After regulation time had ended, Scheetz was able to draw a clutch foul to kill the Wildcats’ momentum. Starting guard Isaac Saavedra also did not disappoint in clutch time hitting a massive 3 ball to solidify the Mustangs victory.
Cypress Ranch is now 7-2 in their district and faced off against the Bridgeland Bears on Sat., Feb. 1st at 1 p.m.
