On Sat., Feb. 1 the Cypress Ranch Mustangs varsity boys basketball team took down the Bridgeland Bears in a fierce 48-43 victory that puts them at 20-11 on the season.
In the first quarter, Ranch was turning over the ball easily while it seemed that the team’s shots just were not falling. The Mustangs were looking confused against the Bears defense, which has improved since they last played each other.
The Mustangs were able to quickly adjust and find their footing, doubling Bridgeland’s ball handlers and playing with high energy. Cy Ranch was able to outscore Bridgeland 34-14 in the second and third quarters. The crowd saw highlight moments from forward KJ Goodwin and Isaac Saavedra who both hit buzzer beaters.
After fending off Bridgeland for the second time, the Mustangs are now 9-2 in district and are nearing the end of the regular season with only three games to go. The Mustangs will take on the Langham Creek Lobos at 7 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 5.
