Comedy Sportz Creates Laughs

Following on the tail-end of the Cy Ranch football season, a new sport has infiltrated the new year: Comedy Sportz. You won’t find these athletes on the field, however–anyone would have better luck searching in the auditorium. Rather than flexing their muscles, these comedic athletes flex their funny bone in a friendly competition, which pits the Cy Ranch team against other schools to vie for the championship of humor.

The team showcased their talent this Friday, Jan. 9, when they came head-to-head with Cy Fair and Cy Falls in the first competition of the school year. The contestants were given guidelines and improvised on stage, getting uproarious laughs from the audience.

The Cy Ranch team, which is one of the largest in the district, was made up of Meredith Ball, Sarah Bartholomew, Brett Bellamy, Xavier Beltran II, Cameron Bishop, Jobias Burr, Cason Day, Kwaku El, Mallory Fondren, Chance Jarvis, Kerensa McMurphy, Taylor Needham, John Michael Schmidt, Sidney Snow, Rebekah Stanley, Ross Strickland, and Mark Waddell.

The next Comedy Sportz match will be on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 P.M. against Faith West at Faith West High School.
