Anyone involved in sports knows that being named to a varsity team means long hours and strenuous practices. For junior Victoria Roubique, those years of demanding practices culminated in a shiny gold medal.

Last Friday, Jan. 20, Roubique and the Cy Ranch swim team arrived at University of Texas’s State Swim Center determined and tenacious. By the time the team left Austin the next day, the swim team had scored a handful of victories–among them, Roubique’s gold medal in the girls’ 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:03.18.

For head swim coach Bryan Hutchinson, this win has been a long time coming.

“She had set a goal to win state since last season and she worked extremely hard to reach that goal,” said Hutchinson. “We are all extremely proud of her and how she represented Cypress Ranch.”
