The theatre department took home high honors this Saturday, Apr. 11 when they ranked first out of six teams at the UIL One Act Play bi-district competition.

The ensemble’s play, Blue Stockings, focuses on women’s rights to education and the historical struggles that have plagued this fight. Blue Stockings was awarded 15 judges’ points and is the only CFISD play to advance past the bi-district competition.

The play wasn’t the only thing to earn awards—six Cy Ranch students received honors at the competition. Seniors Josh Edwards and Rebekah Stanley were named as part of the All-Star Cast, and juniors Micheal Pham and Mark Waddell were named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. Edwards was also named Best Actor, and senior Taylor Needham received Best Actress.

The cast will advance to Area competition this Friday, Apr. 17 at the San Jacinto College.
