The Texas Education Agency (TEA) issued all CFISD schools a waiver exempting the use of an inclement weather makeup day on Friday, June 5. The last day of school will remain Thursday, June 4.

All CFISD schools were closed on Tuesday, May 26 due to dangerous conditions. Record-level flooding swept through north Houston, reaching 11 inches. The storm migrated to Cypress, overflowing the streets and posing unsafe conditions for drivers.

While the inclement weather makeup day is scheduled for Friday, June 5, TEA Commissioner of Education Michael Williams issued an exemption for all CFISD schools that were forced to close due to unsafe conditions.

“We are appreciative of Commissioner Williams’ swift and thoughtful response to a potentially dangerous situation,” CFISD Superintendent Dr. Mark Henry said. “We are grateful that students, teachers and parents can focus on a successful conclusion to the 2014-2015 school year without further changes to their instructional schedule.”
