November 13, 2015
The gyms were bustling with activity this Wednesday, Nov. 11 as eight seniors signed on to play sports at colleges across the nation.
Senior Rachel Tapps was first up on the roster, signing on to the University of Texas El Paso to play girls basketball.
Seniors Bree Edwards, Raquel Harris, and Alexis Warren were up next, pledging to play volleyball at colleges spanning from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. Edwards signed on to the University of Texas Permian Basin, Harris signed on to the University of Missouri St. Louis, and Warren signed on to Northwestern State University.
“It just goes to show that if you work hard, it’s going to pay off in the end,” volleyball coach Candice Silberschatz said.
Next up were seniors Hannah Broseman and Jules Trevino, who signed on to Texas Tech University and Boston College, respectively, to play softball.
Broseman, during her time on the team, was named to first and second team all district, first team all greater Houston area, and district MVP. Trevino, over the years, has been named to second team all district and academic all district.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with these girls for the past three years,” Head Softball Coach Sarah Mueller said. “These two young ladies have been an awesome asset to our program, and I can’t wait to see what they do after their senior year.”
Senior Tyler Bielamowicz took to the signing table next, signing on to the University of Houston to play baseball. As a part of the team that took the state championship last year, Bielamowicz has been named to first team all district, first team all state by the Texas Sports Writers Association, and second team all state by the Texas High School Baseball Coach Association.
“I’m expecting big things this year,” Head Baseball Coach John Pope said.
Senior Kyle Hogan brought the event to a close, signing on to Texas Tech University to play golf.
“Kyle has done a great job not only representing Cy Ranch, but the district with his golfing skills and his commitment to the classroom,” Head Golf Coach Andrew Shanle said. “I look forward to his senior year.”
Congratulations to all of these athletes as they take on the next chapter of their lives.
