Samsung Reveals New Foldable Phone

December 18, 2018

On Thursday, November 8th, Samsung unveiled their new project — a “foldable” phone.

During the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), Hassam Anjum (Director of Product Marketing) showed off the Infinity Flex display. This display allows the phone to bend in a myriad of ways, which can drastically alter the size of the display.  Despite the conference only showing a glimpse of the current prototype, the Internet went crazy.

The news created a wave of shock. A “foldable” phone has never been made by a mainstream manufacturer, but Samsung has taken on the challenge.

The South Korean conglomerate’s new device has also stirred up a mix of opinions from tech reviewers and media, who debate its questionable functionality and potential future.

It’s projected that the new phone will be available to the public in early 2019, and is rumored to be named Samsung Galaxy F or Samsung Galaxy X. The cost is speculated to be as steep as $1,770.

Regardless, devoted tech users and consumers are patiently waiting for Samsung to release the final version of the phone. Time will tell how successful a “foldable” phone will be.
