Cy Ranch Orchestra Winter Concert Recap

December 17, 2018

On Thursday, December 6th, Orchestra had their second concert of the year. Here’s a recap of all the outstanding music they performed:

Camerata & Concert warmed up the crowd with “Twas the Night before Christmas,” narrated by Lisa Parliament; and “Le Froid de I’Hiver” (In the Cold of Winter.)

Philharmonic played “Christmas Symphony in D major” and “Chosen Kallah Mazel Tov,” both songs perfect for the holiday season.

Symphony put together two beautifully-played pieces: “Symphonia de Nativitate” and “Winter Solstice,” both songs also fitting the holiday theme.

Chamber performed next, playing two elegantly composed songs: “Concerto Grosso, Op. 6 No. 8” and “Suit of Carols.” Chamber had many talented individuals receive their own solos/group performances — including violinists Jennie Kim, Padmashree Venkatraman, Emily Busby, Gabriel Balanos and cellists Lily Blanchard and Gabriella Marenco.

The last performance of the night was a truly unique one, pieced together with special guests. Anthony, Aragon, Smith and Spillane eighth-graders were all brought together as a part of the grand finale of the show. They all worked hard to put on a magical performance of “A Mad Russian’s Christmas.” Emily Busby and John Bui played the electric guitar, and Brady Carroll played the bass guitar.

Everyone in the Cypress Ranch Orchestra department worked very hard to put on a fantastic show for us all!
