On October 9th, Cypress Ranch High School varsity sports teams competed against the school’s proclaimed rival, Bridgeland High School.

Rivalry between the girls volleyball team and boys football team allegedly began when Cypress Ranch and Bridgeland high school split up after having shared the building. The split happened nearing the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017 when Bridgeland high school was founded.

The Cypress Ranch girls varsity volleyball team won their home game against Bridgeland with a score of 3-1.Cypress Ranch came in strong after a lost first set to Bridgeland.

“It’s kind of like a super big thing. I feel like it used to be Woods vs Ranch, but now it’s Bridgeland vs Ranch and we’re just going to keep that going” says Cypress Ranch senior libero Kailee Gims.

Not only did the volleyball team take home a win, the Cypress Ranch football team defeated Bridgeland with a score of 38-28 during our away game. This particular football game has been proclaimed to be one of the most intense games of the season.

“I knew it was going to be an intense game, so we wanted to come out strong,” says Ashton Porter, our Defensive Lineman.

First quarter was a ping pong game between the 40’s no score, but after the Mustangs had 47 seconds left, we got a 49 yard field goal.

“In the first half of the game we came out strong, we told our teammates that we can’t let up, but we let it up in the 4th quarter,” Ashton says.

Ashton Porter says he “Started to get nervous.” When the Bridgeland Bears had the ball, he thought to himself , “We can’t lose… we can’t lose…”
