The halls of Cy-Ranch were well prepared for the imminent flood of pink that came Friday, Oct. 18 for the Pink Out game that is played annually to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Every year, the school dedicates a day to recognizing the struggles and trials that breast cancer victims endure, and celebrating survivors of the disease. The profits made from the Pink Out game T-shirts, which have the wearer’s support of the fight against breast cancer emblazoned across their fronts, are donated to various cancer care organizations.

“In the stands, [students] can participate by wearing the shirts, and all the money is donated,” said Assistant Principal Nicole Chandler. “Every single dime and all the shirts are donated, and so every dime that’s made on the shirts goes to cancer care and those organizations.”

No one was disappointed by the wide array of pink that decorated the halls and students as the entire school population participated in the various events put on by different departments.

“[Football] does the Pink Out game, and then volleyball does one as well,” said Chandler. “Basketball does one, too, even though it’s not ‘Pink Out,’ during basketball season.”

All in all, the sense of community that precedes and continues throughout the Pink Out game is a wonderful opportunity to bring to light the tribulations of breast cancer.
