On Saturday, Aug. 30, the Cy Ranch Cross Country team made their way towards Seven Lakes High School for their first meet of the season.

The boys varsity team placed 5th overall, proving that their hard work and dedication has paid off. Senior Brayden Lyons placed first out of the Cy Ranch boys varsity team. Lyons finished with a time of 16:34 and finished 12th overall in the 3.1 mile race. Senior Brendon Hicks placed 16th overall with a time of 16:44. Both boys medaled for finishing in the top 16 and each varsity boy shaved 45 seconds off their times from last season.

Senior Joy Teran placed first for the Cy Ranch girls varsity team with a time of 21:34 and placed 33rd overall in the 3.1 mile race.

On Friday, Sept. 5, the boys and girls teams traveled to Galveston for the Galveston Invitational. Despite the unfamiliar running conditions such as soft sand and the stench from the smelly seaweed, all girl teams placed third and the boys varsity team placed first overall.
