Varsity Football Loses to Langham, Remains Optimistic

The Cy Ranch varsity football team played rival Langham Creek this past Saturday night, Sept. 20 at the Berry Center. Langham Creek stormed out of the gates and scored 28 unanswered points to take a 28-0 lead.

The Mustangs showed their strength and came back to take a 39-35 advantage in the fourth quarter. They fought valiantly, but eventually fell 42-39 to the Lobos on a last-second touchdown.

This game dropped the Mustangs to 1-2 on the season, and we’re now 1-1 in district play. Senior left guard Tim Whorley was optimistic, however.

“We had a good comeback against them,” he said.

This is just a small bump in the road for the Mustangs; as Whorley said, the team’s ultimate goal for this season is to make the playoffs. Whorley believes that they will be able to accomplish that with many returning players and a strong defense.
