Students Meet For Annual “See You At The Pole”
As the sun began to rise, painting the sky shades of pink and purple, students met at the school flagpole for a morning of prayer. Students milled around the pole, laughing and clutching their bibles, ready for the annual meeting of “See You At The Pole” (commonly shortened to SYATP).
SYATP is a worldwide student-led event where Christian students gather around their school’s flag pole for prayer, worship and verse-reading. Beginning in 1990, the rally connects students from all over the world who meet on Sept. 24 at 7:00 A.M. for worship.
This year, about 50 Cy Ranch students met at the flagpole on Warner-Smith Boulevard. There, they split into smaller prayer groups and joined hands around the flagpole to pray together as a student body. Junior Erika Hall and senior Alexis Tarpley read verses from the Bible, and senior Jake Gedeon and sophomore Matt Mohr led the interactive worship.
Students bowed their heads and raised their hands while the music played. Youth pastors from around the area met at the pole to connect with students on the global day of prayer.
