Cy Ranch Preschoolers Go Trick-or-Treating

While most students at Cypress Ranch High School started their Halloween fun after the school day ended, some students spent all day in their  Halloween costumes. On Halloween day, Oct. 31, the children enrolled at the Cy Ranch preschool went trick-or-treating from classroom to classroom, dressed as their favorite Disney princesses or superheros.

“My favorite part about them dressing up is they all look so adorable and it’s really cute to see them excited to go trick-or-treating,” said Katherine Lewis,  a student teacher at the preschool. “It’s just a really fun and exciting day in the preschool for both the teachers and the kids.”

The preschool at Cy Ranch offers daycare for children of staff members, students, and even families from the Cypress area. Juniors and seniors are given the opportunity to take ECP (Early Childhood Project), a class where they are trained for months on things such as CPR, different ways to handle young children, and how to conduct a lesson plan. Once the training is over, the students are then considered teachers.

“My favorite thing about the program is getting to see [the preschoolers] grow and learn,” said Lewis. “By the end of the year, when we make scrapbooks, it’s really amazing to see how much they’ve grown in less than a year just by looking at pictures from the first weeks of school. And then of course they are the [students] that graduate and go to kindergarten, it’s just a really good feeling knowing that they will do well because you prepared them for their first year of elementary school. It’s a really great program for the kids and teachers.”
