A sense of accomplishment and excitement pervaded the LGI on Wednesday, Nov. 12, where nine baseball, softball, and volleyball athletes gathered to sign on to play college sports in front of friends and family. The teams’ respective coaches watched proudly on as their athletes took this next step toward their futures.

First up were the softball players, beginning with Senior Lauren Becker committing to Tyler Junior College, where she will join the Apaches in the Fall. Senior Chayce Hobelman signed on to Southwestern University to join the ranks of the Pirates. Senior Jinny Stricklin became a Hilltopper when she joined St. Edward’s University softball team.

Following the softball signing, the baseball team took their places on the stage and committed to their respective colleges. Senior Riley Gossett committed to Sam Houston State and the Bearkats. Senior Elijah MacNamee became a Gator when he signed on to San Jacinto Junior College’s baseball team, and Senior Ryan Leftwich committed to Texas State and the Bobcat baseball team.

The volleyball players came next. Senior Julia Hartley signed on to St. Edward’s University volleyball team. Senior Cortney Schade committed to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, and senior Shelly Fanning joined the ranks of the Baylor University Bears.

Good luck to these accomplished athletes as they explore what the future holds for them!
