Cy-Hope Touches Lives

Kamryn Kobal, Writer

Cy-Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids in the Cypress area who may be economically, physically, or emotionally disadvantaged. This organization has brought hope to families throughout the city by providing food, clothes, and additional educational opportunities.

Cy-Hope hosts projects such as The Backpack Program, Camp Lemonade, and Counseling/Hope Centers.

Once a week, the Backpack Program provides enrolled students with a backpack filled with food they can consume when not eating school food, which for many kids is the only meal they receive a day.

My student lit up each day when he received the food,” said a teacher of a student who benefited from the Backpack Program. “He went from eating once a day to three. He looked more alert and his academic performance was raised significantly due to being better nourished.”

The local organization also offers the ultimate summer experience to 140 at-risk students through their Camp Lemonade program. The students are sent to Stoney Creek Ranch, where they will grow emotionally and spiritually.

Cy-Hope’s Counseling Centers and Hope Centers are sites in the community that give families an opportunity to become closer and healthier. At the Counseling Centers, free therapy and counseling is provided for both parents and children. Hope Centers give students a comfortable environment where they receive additional help in school,  life skills classes, arts and crafts projects, and other special events.

Cy-Hope brings promise and opportunity to every aspect  in the community, whether it be given to the volunteers or the people who need it the most. Everyone comes together to share a little piece of hope.
