Mustangs Celebrate Journey to State

History was made on Saturday, Dec. 20 as all of Cypress traveled to Arlington to support the Mustang Varsity Football players as they preformed in the UIL Class 6A Divison State Championship.

Although the Mustangs suffered a tough loss against the Allen Gators, the community is still supporting our boys in blue. To celebrate the tough journey on the road to state, Cy Ranch hosted a pep rally on Thursday, Jan. 20, inviting everyone from the community to come out and show their Mustang football pride one last time before the football season ends.

The stands became filled with  parents, students and other fans who were decked out in blue and gold attire, ready to reminisce on the memorable season the Mustangs had.

The pep rally consisted of performances from The Classics, the Cy Ranch cheerleaders, and sentimental speeches from Principal Bob Hull and Head Coach Gene Johnson. The celebration was especially important to the varsity team members, as for many this was their last hurrah in high school football. Each varsity player received personal recognition for their last season as a Mustang.

“Going to state was a great experience for our entire program,” said senior varsity player Christian Kobal. “The class of 2015 really set the bar high and I’m very happy with the season we had. The pep rally reminded all of us how great it feels to be apart of the Mustang Nation.”
