Boys Basketball Falls in Overtime Despite Comeback

The Mustang boys basketball team had a non-district tournament match-up that pit them against the Dawson Eagles from Pearland ISD this Tuesday, Dec. 30. The Mustangs lost to the Eagles with a final score of 58-53.

This was a win-or-go-home game for both teams. The Mustangs came into the game with two games over .500 while Dawson entered the contest with a  whopping 16-4 record.

The first quarter was intense as Dawson came out the other end with a  close 13-11 lead over the Mustangs. However, the Eagles dominated the second quarter and padded their lead to make the score 34-20 at halftime.

The Mustangs pulled together and came out of the locker room hot in the second half and were able to cut the deficit down to just six.

Ranch played an exceptional fourth quarter and the team was able to force overtime. Their comeback was in vain, however, as they struggled to score only two points in the four-minute overtime period. The 58-53 defeat dropped the Mustangs 9-8 as they head into district play.
