The auditorium was rife with anticipation on Thursday, Jan. 15 as a full house looked to the stage, which was lined with male contestants and their beautiful female escorts as they each waited patiently to find out which boy would be crowned the 2015 Mr. Mustang.

Mr. Mustang is an annual pageant hosted by the Cy Ranch Theatre Department and MANE Event. MANE Event is an organization that hosts different fundraisers for the Senior Prom each year. Mr. Mustang was one of those enjoyable fundraisers, in which all proceeds went towards the Cy Ranch prom fund.

The pageant consisted of multiple cast dances and formal wear, swimwear, and talent categories which showcase the multitudes of flair the senior men have.

Many of the boys had the crowd roaring with laughter with their crazy costumes and hilarious talents. One contestant, senior Dylan Brokmeyer, was wheeled across the stage on a covered cart while dressed in a full Ariel the Mermaid costume.

“My favorite part was letting my feminine side out as Ariel in the swimwear category,” Brokmeyer joked.

Contestant number three senior Cleighton Marshall said his favorite part of the night was going on stage and hearing the emcee announce his talent, which was eating cereal.

“I honestly didn’t think anyone was going to like what I was going to do,” Marshall added. However the crowd went crazy with laughter and applause with each bite of Coco Puffs cereal Marshall ate.

Although each contestant gave it their all with their nice tuxedos and Princess Ariel costumes, only one boy was crowned Mr. Mustang 2015: senior Tyson Hoyt. With Hoyt’s glittery rainbow vest during formal wear and his incredible talent on the drums, he wowed the crowd and the judges.

The pageant was about more than winning, though. The contestants created unforgettable memories not only for the audience, but among themselves as well.

“Overall I loved the people I did it with,” Brokmeyer said. “The attitude as a whole of the group during the production was what made it so much fun.”
