Athletes Commit to Play College Sports
February 6, 2015
The LGI and library were filled with excited faces on national signing day this Wednesday, Feb. 4 to celebrate accomplished athletes committing to their respective schools. Family members snapped pictures of their sons and daughters surrounded by their teammates with not a dull face in sight.
Cy Ranch had a total of seven athletes sign their letter of intent, including six Varsity Football players and one Womens Soccer player. CFISD had a total of 63 athletes signing to play at the next level, with 19 of them going to a Division 1 school.
Senior Charlie Booker III signed on to Harvard University, senior Cole Graham committed to Texas Christian University, senior Zachary Kinninger signed on to Fresno State University, Jackson Solbeck signed on to New Mexico State University, senior Myles Roll signed on to Southern Nazarene University, and senior Niko Johnson committed to Henderson State University.
Some will be competing with familiar faces–Myles Roll, a linebacker for Ranch, will be playing alongside his brother Mark Roll at SNU.
The impressive accomplishments didn’t end with football, however. Womens Soccer player Ashley Hernandez signed on to University of Texas – Permain Basin.
This event is recognized as a stepping stone for players as they prepare for the rigorous work that stands ahead of them at the college level. These Mustangs are proud to be in these positions they’ve achieved–whether they have signed on to a Division 1, 2, or 3 school, these athletes are just proud that they have achieved their goal.
All of them have been dreaming about this moment ever since they were freshmen here at Ranch. Some of these athletes were not expecting to be able to play for a university, but they never gave up on their dream.
