Annual Gala Raises Money for Theatre Department

The second annual Theatre Gala was held at the Met Church on Friday, Feb. 6, where the theatre students of Cy Ranch came together for a night of fun while raising money for the theatre department. This year’s theme was  Mardi Gras Magic, allowing the usual gray walls in the worship room at the church to be covered by splashes of the traditional purple, green, and gold Mardi Gras colors.

To kick off the night, the students entertained the guests by performing musical pieces. There were many performances consisting of solos, trios, and group acts that took place while the audience was served dinner.

Along with live entertainment, silent and live auctions were held to sell items donated from parents and community members, such as an autographed picture of Matthew McConaughey and a signed Ricky Williams football. Overall, $2,500 was raised for the theatre department during the course of the night.

“[The Theatre Gala] was a really fun way to get people to appreciate theatre,” said junior Kaylie Hildago. “It was nice to see the community come together to raise money for something that means a lot to us theatre students.”
