Softball Defeats Cy Falls

The Lady Mustang softball team has annihilated the competition through nine games this season. They boast a 8-1 overall record to go along with an undefeated 3-0 district record. This success is due to a combination of lights-out pitching from junior Hannah Broseman and excellent hitting displays from sophomores Tori Alvarez-Lopez and Karlee Canada.

Broseman has a district-low .56 ERA to go along with an average of 1.88 strikeouts per inning.  On the other hand, Alvarez-Lopez is batting .483 while Canada is hitting .462 and the two combined have hit 25 RBIs. The team was well prepared to take on district foe Cy Falls.

The starting pitcher for the Mustangs was Hannah Broseman, who hoped to continue her recent success. The first inning devolved into a stalemate, as neither team was able to tally a run. Cy Falls stayed hit-less into the second inning while the Mustangs countered with a big rally.

Ranch was able to bat through the entire lineup in the bottom of the inning as they scored 6 runs. Broseman continued to shut out the Eagles and the hitting barrage resumed in the third inning as the Mustangs added 4 runs to their total. The Eagles could not record a run, let alone a hit, in the fourth inning, forcing the game into a mercy-rule ending and a 10-0 win for Ranch.

With the win, the girls improve to 9-1 on the season and are placed in a tie with also undefeated Cy Woods. They now prepare for the upcoming Sienna tournament.
