The halls could have been called a river on Friday, Sept. 4 as staff and students flooded the school with blue in remembrance of fallen deputy Darren Goforth. The entire community came together last Friday to mourn him.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, Deputy Goforth was fatally shot at a gas station here in Harris County, which in turn caused this act of remembrance done by the Cypress community. Everyone from staff and students were somber following this tragedy with the CFISD police force sharing a very unique kind of sadness.

“Deputy Goforth was a brother to me,” said CFISD Police Officer Kirk Grenich. “I didn’t even know him and he’s still a brother to me.”

The death of Deputy Goforth was a saddening and horrible event. Although, it is inspiring to see the community come together over the duration of this adverse situation. This is an act of compassion shown by the Cy-Ranch community, and bared the inner workings of the human spirit.
