Tennis Advances to Regionals

Tennis Advances to Regionals

One program that goes a little bit under-appreciated by our student body is possibly our best one—our very own tennis team. Tennis took to the courts this past weekend, Oct. 20 and 21 to bring home the gold in the area tournament.

The tennis program had quite a few players advance to state last year and were hoping to advance yet again to the finals. To do this, these players trained hard in their tennis class at the end of the day and continued this hard work into their after school practice as well.

This valiant effort by both the boys and girls netted them a district championship. With that win, they were able to move on to the most recent area tournament.

There, our teams defeated Aldine Nimitz and Langham Creek in the first two rounds, clinching a spot for the upcoming regional tournament. Unfortunately, they were unable to defeat Spring Branch Memorial and advanced to the regional tournament with a lofty second place win.

Cy Ranch will be the only Cy-Fair ISD school that will be represented at the regional tournament. The tournament takes place on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31 at Deer Park High School.

The teams will continue to work hard and try to improve before the regional tournament because with a top finish, the teams or individuals can advance to the state tournament. It would be incredible to see the entire team at the UIL 6A State tournament.
