Key Club Attends Fall Rally

Key Club Attends Fall Rally

On Saturday, Oct. 3, our Key Club had the opportunity to go to the Texas-Oklahoma District Convention (DCON) that took place in Six Flags this year. While at Six Flags, they didn’t just go to ride the attractions—they got to meet other Key Club members from the Oklahoma district.

With a determined motive to serve the children of the world, DCON strives to make Key Club members do good things in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing, and organizing food drives for kids. DCON brings several Key Club members together to help out the community in several different locations, separated by districts.

This year our Key Club went over the weekend in the beginning of the month to meet with the Oklahoma district and participate in fun activities while still helping out the community for DCON – with the goal of helping out Kiwanis International.

Kiwanis International is a group with members all around the world with one goal to serve the children of our planet.  Kiwanis has several other smaller branches for all age groups, all with the same purpose to serve children, such as K-Kids, Bring Up Grades (BUG), Aktion Club, Key Leader, CKI, and Terrific Kids.

“We met new people in the district and learned about the theme for next year,”Key Club president Reena Gannon said. “We played ice breakers in order to connect with other members such as Key Club related Kahoot! and jellyfish, rode rollercoasters and socialized with other Key Clubbers.”

DCON was great for all of the Key Club members because they got to meet Key Clubbers from a different state.

“Fall Rally gave a better perspective that we are not the only club that is working together, that everyone is learning and making mistakes, and that our club does a lot of service,” Gannon said. “It was a very humbling experience.”
