Project Prom Gives Girls a Night to Remember

Zoe Ethridge, Writer

On Saturday, April 2, the long-awaited Project Prom will commence, allowing girls to get the full prom experience by “shopping” for a perfect dress and accessories at no cost at all. The First Metropolitan Church and Project Prom team will pair up to help girls find the perfect outfit, even helping them learn how to do the perfect make-up for the special night.

Everyone knows how stressful (and expensive) the process of prom can be, and Project Prom’s goal is to take that away. Project Prom seeks to relieve the stress that comes with looking for a dress, and ultimately help young girls experience the perfect night of the one and only senior prom.

“From the dress, the shoes, the accessories, the date and all the prom festivities—prom is a night they anxiously await and one they will remember forever,” Project Prom employee Michelle Olgetree said.

However, she says they can be costly. Some girls are turned away from the idea of prom because of the expenses that come along with it, on top of senior fees already. Project Prom feels it shouldn’t be that way. If anyone, especially girls, wants to go to prom, they should be given the opportunity to do so without having to come up with immense amount of money. That is what Project Prom is for.

During the event, girls can “shop” for the perfect dress, shoes, and accessories assisted by a personal shopper. A beauty consultant will also be available to offer advice on makeup and skincare. After the girls are certain they will look their best, a mentor will go over prom etiquette to ensure she will be her very best on her special night.

The project has raised the standard for most and proves most useful for girls in any school instead of just here at the Ranch. Project Prom reaches out to girls all over the Houston area to ensure they will have a night to remember.

Registration for Project Prom ends Saturday, Mar. 26. To register, contact Project Prom at [email protected].
