First Pep Rally of the 2016 School Year
On Friday, Aug. 26, Cypress Ranch held its first pep rally of the year, showcasing the best of their athletic department as teams each kicked off their sports seasons. The entire event, held in two sessions to accommodate everyone, was a celebration for the season opening football game against the Cinco Ranch Cougars.
One of the highlights of the pep rally was the introduction of the varsity football team as the boys showed obvious signs of excitement by huddling together and chanting cheers as one. Other varsity teams such as cross country track, tennis, and volleyball shared word of their recent victories and upcoming matches so students can continue to support the Mustangs.
The pep rally was musically enhanced by the Cypress Ranch Mustang Band under the direction of Band Director Russell Holcombe. Their blend of bold brass tones, refined woodwind charm, and the pomp of the drumline injected enthusiasm and energy into the packed event from start to finish. The drumline’s act, as usual, raised excitement among students who swayed together to the rhythm of the Cypress Ranch alma mater with arms around their fellow classmates.
In addition to the music and general atmosphere of school pride, the performances done by the Classics dance team and the cheer squad were a spectacle to behold. The intricacies and organization of their performances were meticulously choreographed and executed with precision. Their skill and leadership in bringing the crowd together could be heard from quite a distance as cheers echoed through the hallways.
