Choir’s “Journey” Pop Show
With Choir’s annual Pop Show being another sold out success, one has to ask how the singers prepared for their performances with the complexity of the show. The Pop Show was a spectacle to behold and many will agree that it was something that should not have been missed. The Choir’s renditions of the songs by Journey reminded so many people of the actual version of the source material.
With the masterful level of performing that was put into the Pop Show, it should not be surprising that practice was not all that easy. Junior Colby Inman, a soloist for “Don’t Stop Believing” explained his difficulty with practice. Although Inman loves Choir, he agrees that practice was not as glamorous as the show made it look.
“Practice was long but I think it was worth it,” Inman said. “Even though it took a lot of time to prepare for the show, Choir is still a lot of fun and I love it.”
The Mustang Choir spent weeks preparing for the performance, adding after school rehearsals that were able to refine their skills. In addition to singing the ballads, the choir also strutted across the stage with synchronized dance numbers. Many hours had to be spent learning dance steps, repeating each single move.
If the dancing was good, then the vocals were great. Pop Show was two parts wonderful, the Choir’s natural vocal talent paired with the dance moves that they learned really packed a punch for the show. No moment in the show was dull and most of that can be attributed to the Choir’s beautiful voices and the skill of Cynthia Douglas as Choir Director.
The Choir will hold their next performance on May 11 with their Spring Concert, get your tickets early and enjoy the show.
