Girls Varsity Soccer Team Undefeated

As the district soccer season came to an end, the Cypress Ranch girls Varsity team were titled “District Champions.”  The undefeated Mustangs put in tremendous amounts of effort and worked hard to achieve greatness on the field. The Varsity team practiced Monday through Friday with games on Tuesdays and Fridays.

“We deserved to win after a successful season,” sophomore Sydney Schmitt said. “After endless practices, it feels amazing to have achieved the title ‘District Champions’.”

Winning every district game has been a significant accomplishment for each of the players. It gave the team confidence in their skills as they advanced to play in the playoffs. Although the team did not compete past the playoffs, this year was the first time the girls Varsity team remained undefeated.

“We made history for the girls soccer team,” Schmitt said. “This is the first time we won district.”

The Varsity team consists of players from every grade, which has allowed for underclassmen to embark on an incredible journey with the junior and senior players. Because the team did so well this year, the underclassmen players now have a greater goal to strive for next season.

“I am excited to play next year and try to do even better than we did this year,” Schmitt said. “We have accomplished so much this year, it is almost unreal.”

Despite being a team of different ages, the girls became a family. Through hours of practice on the field, in the gym, and in the classroom, the support that the players gave one another is a contribution to the success they experienced.

“We worked really hard this season,” Schmitt said. “We would not have gone so far without teamwork and motivation from each other.”
