Pink Out Game 2017

On Friday, October 6, 2017, the Mustangs took on the Cy Creek Cougars for their annual “Pink Out” game – spreading breast cancer awareness. A portion of proceeds from the game went to organizations which help support research towards causes and cures for this tragic crisis, which affects people all over the world. The players, parents, coaches, and of course the student section all demonstrated their support by covering CFFCU in a sea of pink.

What is breast cancer? Breast cancer can form in either women or men, and is caused by invasive cells that form together and destroy breast tissue. It can develop as a result of family inheritance, being exposed to radiation, obesity, and even increasing age. Although treatment is available (such as chemo therapy), it is often expensive and can only be given at specialized hospitals. This unfortunate set of circumstances makes breast cancer a terrible, often fatal disease.

Breast cancer affects one-out-of-eight women in the United States alone – establishing itself as one of the most common diseases next to lung cancer and prostate cancer. Breast cancer damages not only the life of its victim, but the lives of the victim’s parents, children, and friends as well. We can all be affected cancer, directly or indirectly.

The game itself on Friday was a success for the Ranch. The final score was 17-13, with the Mustangs making a strong comeback in the second half.  Cypress Ranch fought for the victory, as well as breast cancer awareness – making all of us proud to be a part of Mustang Nation.
