Electives Fair Visits Cy Ranch

Students browse prospective elective options.

Colorful posters and enthusiastic smiles decorated the commons last Tuesday, Feb. 25, when the annual Electives Fair took over the plastic cafeteria tables to give students and parents a first look into the official 2014-2015 elective curriculum options.

The Electives Fair is historically a Cy Ranch staple of creative and academic life. Every February, the school’s various electives, ranging from Spanish and French to Photojournalism to Welding, take up residence in the commons for two and a half hours, starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. Students had the opportunity to speak to teachers and peers of certain electives they may be considering, which in some cases can be invaluable knowledge when weighing options.

“The Electives Fair is a place where you see what high school is like,” said sophomore Mariana De La Garza. “It gives you a better idea of what is offered.”

The Electives Fair, overall, is an invaluable experience for students unsure of which direction they want to go, and offers a chance for students to temporarily immerse themselves in the unique Cy Ranch culture.
