The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is an annual event in Houston, Texas, that occurs from March 2 to March 22 this year. The Houston rodeo offers the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo. The rodeo combines major concerts, carnivals, exhibitions with student artwork and as well rodeo competitions.
As every year the rodeo grows bigger, more people have more things to look forward to. This year there are a variety of people performing for the Rodeo concert, J Balvin, Lizzo, Kelly Clarkson, Megan Moroney and many more well-known stars.
“This year, I am most excited to go see Forrest Frank. Some of my favorite songs are UP! And ALWAYS,” senior Khang Ton said.
Among the shows, many people’s favorite part about the rodeo is the rides. The Houston rodeo offers more than 80 high-adrenaline rides to family-friendly attractions and everything in between, offering a good time for everyone of all ages, races and places. Some ride favorites include La Grande XL ferris wheel, Overdrive Spinner and Enchanted Castle funhouse.
Junior Emma Doran attended the carnival.
“I love the rides. I was most excited for the ‘Hip Hop’ Swing and as well the ferris wheel with my boyfriend,” Doran said.
Beyond the stage, the carnivals and the shows, the rodeo is a place of opportunity for many students, athletes and stars. However, the rodeo is more than just that; it is a celebration of Texas heritage that only keeps getting better with the years that go by and helps us connect to each other.
