As a pro-movie watcher and a huge Michael B. Jordan supporter, I can hand down say that Sinners might have been his best work yet. Although Michael B. Jordan has played some good roles in big-time movies such as Black Panther and Creed, nothing is cutting close to Sinners. Sinners was a movie that told a deeper story than just vampires and horror. Sinners displayed some real-life problems that were faced by African Americans in the south during that time.
The movie was just overall fascinating. What makes the movie even more spectacular was not just that Michael B. Jordan had to play two characters at one time but he used such raw emotions and mannerisms to compel the audience. Michael B. Jordan one person was able to single-handedly achieve playing two different roles and absolutely acing the traits. From the way he talked, walked and even looked at his castmates in between roles was different. Not only did he match every action to the lines perfectly, he literally embodied the characters.
Sinners was the perfect mix of having a hidden story behind it while also being able to apply it in a subtle way. The plot wasn’t so straight forward to where you could guess what could happen before it even happened. The plot actually made you work for what was going to happen next, which is what most people look for when watching these suspenseful movies.
According to The New Yorker, “Coogler presents a provocatively Africanist view of Black American experience, and does so with exuberant inventiveness; the uncompromising political essence of his allegorical vision is expressed with aesthetic delight.”
Personally, I think that Sinners was one of the best movies that has come out in the year of 2025, and all the awards that the actors and directors won help me back up my point furthermore. Sinners wasn’t just a movie to most; it was history. Since the Oscars began, only six black men have won the outstanding actor award, including Michael B Jordan. As I have demonstrated with my reasons and evidence, there should be no debate whether or not Sinner was not only the best movie of the year 2025, but the best Michael B. Jordan Movie so far.
